JACK REANEY

Big Sky Staff Writer

Jack joined the Editorial staff in September 2022, with a passion for reporting, writing, multimedia storytelling, and building a strong community.

He grew up on the seacoast of New Hampshire, playing baseball and running with a passion for pain. He’ll miss skiing his home mountain, Cannon, i.e. “The Living Legend” which features the highest ski area summit and most vertical drop in the Granite State (4080’ peak, 1900’ base).

He spent five years studying Economics and Creative Writing at Denison University in Ohio, taking a gap year during 2020/21 to avoid Senior year on Zoom and opting instead to work Trail Safety in Telluride, Colorado. He fondly remembers being paid to take powder laps while looking for over-terrained skiers on the shady steeps of Lift 9. Jack dove into journalism during his Senior year, and he found Outlaw to be an exciting opportunity to start his writing career.

Jack is still a competitive-amateur runner and mogul-hungry skier. He loves messing around and editing audio/video projects, and wishes that FM radio wasn’t going out of style so he could host a station someday. He’d avoid pop music, instead jamming a down-to-Earth variety from hard rock and old-school rap to reggae and folk.
